The Palm Pixi will go on sale in the US in three weeks time, reports suggest, seemingly dashing hopes that it will be granted a UK release before Christmas.
According to unnamed sources cited by BoyGenius, the upcoming mobile phone will arrive in American stores on October 20th.
Despite being launched in the US in May, Palm’s last handset the Pre is not due to go on sale in the UK until October 16th.
Should a similar time lag be in evidence for the Pixi, the handset will almost certainly not be available in the UK in time for the seasonal market.
Best described as a slimmed down version of the Pre, the Palm Pixi featutes a BlackBerry-style QWERTY keyboard housed beneath the screen and wireless recharging.
The device has been touted by many mobile phone experts as the handset that could bring Palm devices to the mass market.
Previously, the company’s mobiles have appealed mostly to a core market of technology fans and business users.
