A new Samsung mobile phone that teams recyclable materials with modern features is due to launch in the UK soon.
Dubbed the Samsung S7550 Blue Earth, the new mobile phone features a shell made from recycled water bottles to mimimise its environmental impact and employs a built-in solar panel on the back to cut energy use.
Other features include a three-inch touchscreen, web browser, media player, a pedometer and a calendar that alerts users to eco demonstrations and other key events of interest to environmentalists.
JK Shin, Executive Vice President and Head of the Mobile Communication Division of Samsung Electronics, said: “Samsung’s Blue Earth is not just another addition to our mobile line-up, but a significant step forward in our commitment to protecting the environment.
"I am very pleased to announce the launch this landmark eco mobile, and Samsung will continue to introduce innovative eco-friendly mobiles like Blue Earth to target the broader consumers ”
The Samsung Blue Earth was first sighted at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year, which also saw the unveiling of LG’s similarly green handset the LG GD510 Pop.
