Spotify branded mobile phones could be on the way, a spokesperson has revealed, as the company looks to expand its share of the online music market.
Earlier this week the music streaming site signed a deal with Swedish broadband provider Telia, which will focus on forging new ways of making the service available, such as including usage of Spotify in mobile phone and broadband contracts.
Now a spokesperson has revealed that branded phones are another option being explored as part of the arrangement.
He told Tech Radar: "We're not making hardware but it's likely we'll see Spotify branded phones being sold by Telia who will bundle our service with their mobile and internet packages.
"We've nothing specific to say about the UK but it is an important market for us in every sense."
It is thought that INQ will manufacture the handsets, suggesting that if the phones make it to the UK they will appear exclusively on the 3 network.
