Nokia has unveiled an entertainment-optimised edition of the 5330 that packs in mobile broadcast TV, social networking, music and gaming in a compact handset.
Buyers of the Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition benefit from DVB-H technology that offers a rich viewing experience as well as one-click access to live broadcasts.
They are also able to set reminders for their favourite shows and create personal channel lists with the handset’s Electronic Program Guide.
According to Nokia, owners can expect around six hours battery life when viewing TV on the mobile.
Nokia vice president Mark Selby said: "The introduction of the Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition responds to the arrival of DVB-H broadcast mobile TV networks in new markets and offers an affordable device for new and existing customers alike.
“Customers are increasingly watching a variety of programmes on their mobiles, such as drama programs, news and sport, for a longer period of time.”
The phone manufacturer calculates that by 2012 there will be over 300 million people worldwide watching TV on their mobiles.
Other key handset launches due from Nokia in the run up to Christmas include the N900 – a high-end smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard, and the Nokia X6 – a design-focussed mobile with an accent on enjoying music on the go.
