The shareAnywhere application, released by T-Mobile, is file sharing software which lets Android phone owners swap files via a network connection.
The app is aimed at the business market, with the key function being enabling colleagues to share documents and information wirelessly.
Multiple Android users will be able to share the same group of files over a single network.
Experts believe that although it is designed for practical applications within businesses, the app could just as easily be used for sharing media files between friends, including pictures and music.
This carries the obvious risk of piracy, though there are of course legitimate benefits made available by the app.
The files are stored on a central server, whilst access to the files is granted by password for permitted users, giving a decent level of security but allowing for widespread sharing if the user decides to share the login details.
The shareAnywhere app is downloadable from the Android Market free of charge.
