Even with the pressures and requirements of a busy family Christmas to deal with, a new report has revealed that nearly 80 per cent of BlackBerry users will check their work email accounts using their phones on the big day.
A survey asked 1000 smartphone owners about their usage habits over the festive season and found that around 66 per cent would be checking their email every day, even when they were in the midst of Christmas celebrations.
Over a quarter of the respondents admitted that they would be checking email out of habit rather than necessity, though 45 per cent said that their BlackBerry would not leave their side for the whole of their time off just in case something requiring their attention cropped up.
Many of those questioned admitted that they could well cause conflict with family members by insisting on checking their email this Christmas, but that this was not enough to deter them from doing so.
A spokesperson for the site that performed the survey said that he was not surprised at the results and that most smartphone users quickly develop the email-checking habit which can be hard to shake, regardless as to the circumstances.
