Most industry observers have assumed that Apple has been busy working on the follow up to the iPhone 3G S, although there has been no solid information about its technical specs - until now. Patent forms have been leaked online showing what appears to be applications to protect certain technical aspects of the next iPhone.
The most significant revelation provided by the plans is the inclusion of a service which will allow friends to let one another know where they are via text message, integrated with the GPS connectivity.
Some claim that these plans are indeed genuine since Apple cancelled Google's Latitude app, which offered very similar functionality to that hinted at in the patent.
This action would make sense if Apple was in the middle of developing an app of its own that would directly compete with Google Latitude.
