It looks as though Canadian manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) is going to offer the BlackBerry Curve 8910 Atlas to consumers in the UK, adding yet another smartphone to the current BlackBerry line up.
The Atlas appeared in some sneakily snapped pics when it was in testing to assure that it was eligible to run the radio frequencies required by BlueTooth wireless standard.
As with other current generation BlackBerry smartphones, the Atlas looks to have ditched the trackball interface in favour of an optical trackpad. This is definitely a good thing as the trackball was sometimes prone to breaking after prolonged use.
One BlackBerry expert who saw the images said that it was very similar to a previously seen smartphone from RIM, also dubbed Atlas, which had no 3G, a 2.4 inch screen and a 624MHz processor.
There have been suggestions that the 8910 Atlas could become available in both Asia and Europe, although without official word from RIM this remains speculation.
