An American version of popular music streaming service Spotify has been in the pipeline for some time and new speculation is hinting at the possibility of a tie-in with Google's Nexus One smartphone.
This could mean that the service might be up and running in January, with the news that a deal between Spotify and the various music companies in the USA is going through making things look hopeful.
Other sources report that Google is negotiating a deal with Spotify which would see a version of its app become an integral facet of the latest version of the Android mobile operating system.
Whether this will result in the integration of Spotify into the launch campaign of the Nexus One remains to be seen.
There have been suggestions that Google would support Spotify with its own advertising, bearing the cost of subscription for Nexus One owners, although at this point this news is based on little more than excited rumours.
Neither Google nor Spotify have been willing to speak about any of the claims made in the press, although with the impending release of the Nexus One it is likely that more information will emerge very soon indeed.
