MWC 2010: LG partners Dolby for mobile sound revolution

LG has teamed up with Dolby for a smartphone featuring the latest version of the audio giant's mobile technology.

Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress, the upcoming Android phone will incorporate 5.1 surround sound.

LG's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Skott Ahn said: "Together with Dolby, we hope to raise the bar for audio quality in mobile devices and the mobile industry as a whole."

Dolby claims that its latest audio technology for mobile phones will offer a drastic improvement in the quality of the sound that phones can produce.

Dolby's Ramzi Haidamus explained: "Dolby Mobile expands the possibilities of mobile entertainment, allowing people to enjoy richer, more cinema-like audio experiences on the go."

LG and Dolby have been working together for the best part of two years. The latest prototype on show this week will be followed by 20 other mobiles due from the joint venture.
