O2 will offer the HTC Smart to its UK customers towards the end of April.
Touted as one the most affordable smartphones yet seen, the Smart uses the Brew mobile operating system that has been developed by chip manufacturer Qualcomm and also comes with HTC's custom Sense user interface.
Inside the Smart is a 300MHz processor to keep things moving and a three megapixel camera makes an appearance on the back. The Smart has a 2.8-inch touchscreen display for performing the majority of tasks.
HTC's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Peter Chou said: "More and more people are craving advanced mobile phone experiences with email, web browsing and social networking but the cost and complexity often represent a significant obstacle for many.
"The HTC Smart introduces this functionality in an intuitive phone that is affordable."
It seems that the HTC Smart will be pitched at a variety of demographics, with pink, white and black versions set to become available. Pricing is unconfirmed at the moment, but expect it to be free on a £20 pay monthly contract.
