The world's first-ever Lego BlackBerry mobile phone has been created by a smartphone enthusiast-cum-artist.
Lego construction blocks are the main material used by artist Nathan Sawaya for the 1.5-metre recreation of a BlackBerry Niagara.
Mr Sawaya has already gained attention for his use of Lego in the construction of an over-sized iPhone in 2009.
His latest work is believed to have been ordered by some marketing people over at BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM).
The Lego model which Mr Sawaya built had to be operational to a certain extent, so it is not just an inanimate statuesque homage to a popular smartphone brand.
Mr Sawaya said: "I embedded a flat screen TV into my brick sculpture to get the effect of having working video in this over-sized brick smartphone".
The Lego BlackBerry is just a small part of a larger exhibition which Mr Sawaya is taking all over the US, with all of the pieces paying homage to Lego as a medium for expression.
