HTC Desire gets April launch date

The HTC Desire, which is based on the same basic hardware as the Google Nexus One, will be available to buy online in the UK from the 12th of April.

HTC's upcoming handset, which is available to pre-order now from Top 10 Mobile Phones, also has the same 1GHz Snapdragon processor as the Nexus One.

Other comparable features include a touchscreen display measuring 3.7 inches across and version 2.1 of the Android operating system.

The usual connectivity options, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, are present and correct, along with high speed mobile internet access via 3G and HSDPA.

Perhaps the main reason for consumers to choose the HTC Desire over the Google Nexus One is the inclusion of HTC's own Sense user interface.

This is overlaid on top of Android and makes for an attractive, user friendly and highly customisable operating environment.
