BlackBerry fans will be interested to see a set of fresh snaps showing what is alleged to be version 6.0 of the platform in operation.
According to sources, the screenshots depict a BlackBerry Storm2 running the OS, which means that it has been created with some very touchscreen-friendly icons in mind and it even has some live widgets on display.
According to BBLeaks, which published the pics online, they are from a reliable source with close connections to BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM).
There is a definite feeling of the Android about the new BlackBerry OS, although this may be because the homescreen features an enormous digital clock above anything else.
The widgets look to be rigidly organised in a grid, which would make moving them about similar to the system employed by the Nokia N97.
The touchscreen BlackBerry smartphones have been in need of a platform that is fully customised to meet their needs and so even if these are fan-made approximations, they cannot be too far off the plans currently being implemented inside RIM.
