Smartphone owners whose handsets support Java-based games will soon be able to download brand new titles straight to their handset from the freshly announced HMV Mobile Games service.
HMV is working in conjunction with Orange to bring mobile gaming to the masses and the good news is that customers with any network affiliation will be able to download titles.
When the store opens its virtual doors there will be 400 games from which to choose, with ubiquitous titles such as Tetris joined by the latest sports games and many more in the future.
The cheapest game will cost about £1 and the priciest playthings will be £5. The shop will also offer try before you buy options with downloadable demo versions of top titles.
Orange customers will benefit from a simplified payment method, whereby games purchased are added to their monthly bill.
Orange UK's Stephen Harris said: "Orange is proud to be introducing this new service in strategic partnership with HMV, which will enable both parties to deliver greater value, products and services to our customers."
The new game download service will become active on March 26th.
