Sketch Nation Shooter, which allows iPhone owners to built their own retro-style top down shoot-em-ups, has been used to generate 800 new games, according to developer Engineous Games.

Users are encouraged to sketch their own attack craft, enemies, levels and backdrops on a physical piece of paper.
The iPhone's camera is then used to snap pictures of each element and the app works out which components it needs to integrate into the game, with the process being completed automatically from there.
The app costs under £1 and there is already a planned update to allow Facebook integration for sharing of the user-generated games via the social networking site.
Buyers can also download the hundreds of different games that users have already created from within the app.
"I've been overwhelmed by the response to Sketch Nation Shooter – it's very fulfilling to see so much unique and imaginative content being created by the community already," commented Engineous Games chief executive Nitzan Wilnai.
