Nokia's Ovi Store is now posting daily downloads that exceed 1.6 million, with the increase largely attributed to the availability of the service in China.
In recent months, the Ovi Store has continued to grow, adding 100,000 downloads a day in less than a month and a half.
China is heading up the current download tables. The UK is in 9th position at the moment and the seemingly random spread of download hotspots shows that the Ovi Store is dominant in some markets but not in others.
The Ovi Store now supports over 100 different Nokia mobile phones, allowing people from different ends of the market to share in the same experience.
If users are given the option to pay for apps and content using their monthly payment plan and operator, over two thirds are choosing to do so.
The Chinese market could prove to be the most important one for the Ovi Store and Nokia. Both Google and Apple have so far failed to launch their own app download platforms there and Nokia is being given the chance to establish itself unchallenged.
