The HTC Desire smartphone is set to get a software update, bringing Android 2.2 to its owners, it has been confirmed.
HTC has announced that all of its current Android-based smartphone range will be getting version 2.2 at some point, but the Desire is set to be the first of the bunch.
"We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo," said HTC in a press release.
The release dates for these updates have not, as yet, been finally confirmed because work is ongoing, but HTC has committed to getting them out in the second half of 2010.
This announcement essentially states that the likes of the HTC Legend and the upcoming HTC Wildfire will also get Android 2.2.
It is to be hoped that the transition will not take as long as the arrival of Android 2.1 on the HTC Hero.
