Orange UK customers looking to pick up the HTC Desire Android smartphone are out of luck, after massive consumer demand forced the car to announce it has run out of the standard brown and special edition black versions.
Orange is not alone in being hit by unprecedented demand for the Desire, as Amazon.co.uk has had stock issues for unlocked, SIM-free versions.
The Desire is also available on Vodafone and T-Mobile in the UK, but again there could be problems for people looking to get hold of it, as national availability is limited.
In relation to fears over delivery delays, HTC's Peter Chou said "I am not worried about inventory. I'm more worried about being unable to make enough products.
"Customers are chasing after me [asking for more shipments]."
HTC's other key handset launch for 2010 so far is the similarly highly rated Legend, which combines the latest 2.1 version of Google's Android operating system with an eye-catching unibody construction.
