Vodafone cuts World Cup calling costs

Vodafone has decided to make it cheaper for UK football fans travelling to South Africa for the World Cup this summer to call home by adding extra time to the Passport roaming scheme.

Calls from mobiles located in South Africa to the UK will be subject to a fixed 75p charge. If you are a pay monthly Vodafone customer you will just pay standard rates for calls home and pay as you go users who have the Freedom Pack included as part of their deal will also get the low rates.

Vodafone is even cutting the cost of mobile internet access when users are overseas. The first five megabytes of data usage will be billed at £1 each after which it will cost another fiver for each five megabytes you use a day.

Each SMS you send will cost 11 pence. Vodafone is enabling its Passport roaming tariffs from the 15th of June.
