iPhone 4 arriving two days early

The iPhone is officially on sale today, but some lucky people who pre-ordered the mobile ahead of time have been taking delivery over the past two days.

The first wave of iPhone 4 owners have been shouting about their new purchases via social networking and video sharing sites online, suggesting that in America the deliveries have been way ahead of the official timeframe for its launch.

As yet there have been no such stories from the UK and since the iPhone 4 is already in stores now it is unlikely that anyone will be concerned. However, it could suggest that fears over delayed arrivals and stock problems might be unfounded.

Apple has jumped the gun with the delivery of pre-ordered products in the past, with many UK users getting the iPad 24 hours before the official day of launch.

It will be interesting to see how long the surge of public interest in the iPhone 4's launch takes to simmer down to lower levels. There is little doubt that this launch is the most significant in the 2010 smartphone calendar.
