A low quality image purporting to depict the first sighting of a Motorola Milestone/Droid 2 has appeared, suggesting that a replacement for the acclaimed Android smartphone is on the way.
The smartphone is clearly running the Android platform as it shows the operating system's famous logo and observers have pointed out that the codename 'A955' is on show, which is allegedly linked to the Milestone 2.
The poor image quality still provides sufficient information to suggest that the phone is not simply one of Motorola's other in-development mobiles, such as the Shadow, which was recently the subject of a similar set of rumours after it was found lying about in an American gym.
Motorola has not given any official information in relation to the existence of the Milestone 2, although since it has been repeatedly stating that its Android line-up will be growing over the coming months, it would make sense for it to develop another high end smartphone based on Google's popular operating system.
Snaps of what is purported to be Moto's new smartphone challenger were first unearthed by Android fansite Droid Life.
