Sony Ericsson is carrying out a rebranding exercise on its mobile accessories division, hoping that its slipping market share will be offset by a surge in interest in its add-ons and peripherals.
The new Extras range includes the four essential categories in mobile accessories; namely Talk, Play, Listen and Go. These four groups essentially deal in headsets, gaming, speakers and cases for mobiles respectively.
"We want consumers to experience their mobile phone to its highest potential and Sony Ericsson Extras will enable them to find the perfect accessory for their needs," said Sony Ericsson's Jacob Stern.
The first two flagship accessories to launch the Extras range are the VH110 and VH410 Bluetooth headsets. The former is a low cost headset which has some basic features, whilst the latter is a stylish, boutique item which has noise cancelling technology and intuitive controls.
The Bluetooth headsets are not just for Sony Ericsson customers, as they will operate with any mobile that offers Bluetooth connectivity.
