Nokia has confirmed that the mid range touchscreen mobile known as the 5228 is making its way to the UK.
The 5228 follows on from the 5230, which is based on the 5800 XpressMusic but is aimed at the lower end of the market with streamlined features.
The 5228 was originally an exclusive to the German market, but this has now changed with the UK release being planned.
On the outside the 5228 looks almost identical to the 5230 which means you get a 3.2-inch resistive touchscreen display that lets users interact with the Symbian S60 operating system (OS).
However, things are even more sparse on the inside, as the 3G connectivity and GPS capabilities have been stripped out to lower the price of the 5228.
The 5228's UK launch has been made public because Nokia added an official webpage for the mobile phone on its UK site, complete with full technical specifications.
The UK price is likely to mirror the equivalent of the 5228's German offering, which is roughly £116, although the low cost nature of the 5230 which is already on the UK market means it could be even lower, perhaps hitting shelves at under £80.
