An update that brings the latest version of Android to the Motorola Milestone may never arrive due to problems with making it compatible with the MotoBlur skin, Moto's European Marketing Director has hinted.
A decision as to whether or not to update the Milestone to Android 2.2, AKA FroYo, will be made soon, according to a forum post from James King on Motorola's site.
However, the decision could be heavily influenced by the lengthy, complex process involved in creating the update.
Mr King stated: "Upgrades are not a walk in the park. Sure there are shortcuts that people can take, but when you have to integrate software to a specific hardware, then test it and integrate with third party applications… it's is a big undertaking."
In the US, the Milestone is branded as the Droid and rumours suggest that it could be in line for a FroYo update soon, according to Unwired View.
If this is the case then the fact that the Milestone could miss out on the same treatment seems strange as they are essentially the same from a hardware perspective.
