Network provider 3 has set the smartphone rumour mill ablaze after running a poster ad apparently showing a pair of Nokia mobiles running Google's Android platform.
The poster, which appeared on Oxford Street and was spotted by eagle-eyed phone buff Mauricio Reyes, clearly depicts a Nokia X6 and a 5230 using the standard Android interface.
Nokia has in the past firmly stated that it has no plans to use the Android platform in any of its future smartphones. This is not simply because Google is a rival, but also because the firm has heavily invested in the development of its own Symbian and MeeGo operating systems.
The advert was presumably created after 3 experienced some crossed wires in its marketing department, but for a brief moment it is possible that many Nokia fans were fooled into believing that an Android update might soon be launched for two of the firm's most popular mobiles.
