Apple seeks antenna expert for iPhone 4

Apple has started the search for an engineer specialising in antenna technology, as it looks to manage the fallout from reception problems with the iPhone 4.

A job listing on the official Apple site is calling for someone to fill the position of "Antenna Engineer – iPhone", which some have interpreted to mean that the former holder of this position is now seeking employment elsewhere.

The controversy surrounding the handset has centred on a reputed loss of signal when the smartphone is gripped by a left-handed user.

As it stands, owners must shell out £25 for a protective case which instantly remedies the issues, at least until the Apple is able to work up a fix.

However, many iPhone 4 users are calling for Apple to throw in these accessories free of charge since it is perceived to have failed many customers who paid hundreds of pounds for a smartphone that cannot make calls or go online when held in a standard fashion.

Despite criticism of the newest iteration of the iPhone, it still managed to sell 1.7 million units within days of its release.

Consumer demand in the UK is so strong that UK networks are reputed to be almost completely sold out.
