The first mobile design created by Nokia fans has been sighted after the Finnish phone giant released some artist impressions of the concept handset.
The Design by Community project aims to help Nokia work out precisely what kinds of features its users are actually after, as well as price points and design that would best appeal to consumers.
The Nokia Conversations site has been the hub for this creativity over many weeks and a definite list of functions and hardware specifications have been generated from the user input.
The concept device has a four inch display and eight megapixel camera, surround sound from Dolby and support for USB 3.0 connectivity.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that the handset offers multiple operating system compatibility straight out of the box, although it has to be said that this is hardly something that Nokia would actually release as a commercial venture.
A total of three different concept designs have been developed by three different artists and each one has its own merits. Users are now required to pick one of the three to be the winner and a full mock-up of the phone will be produced by professionals.
