Research in Motion (RIM) has been in talks with all the major UK operators over the upcoming Torch 9800 smartphone and 3 is the latest name added to the list of networks planning to support device when it arrives in Britain.
3 has kept quiet over its plans on pricing and availability, but like Orange and Vodafone it will be committed to RIM's first slide-out touchscreen mobile.
It said in a statement: "The new BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone with BlackBerry 6 will be coming soon from Three. We will keep you posted with more details as we get closer to availability."
RIM has implied that there is still a wait in store for consumers who are hoping to bag the 9800 when it launches and since it will outstrip all of its predecessors in terms of technical capabilities, it is likely to be a relatively pricey kit, even with a network subsidy.
RIM has updated the BlackBerry operating system to coincide with the Torch 9800 launch, so it will be an important step forward for the Canadian manufacturer.
