The Samsung Galaxy S is due for a software update in September, with Android 2.2 definitely on its way to the UK.
Samsung confirmed the arrival of the latest iteration of Google's operating system via micro blogging service Twitter.
The carrier Tweeted: "We receive questions about the Android 2.2 update.
"It's currently in development & will be released for all networks at the end of September."
It's impressive to see the firm so sure that every UK network will be releasing the update in roughly the same timeframe, as the HTC Desire has been subject to a fragmented roll-out of Android 2.2 which has left many users vexed with both the Taiwanese manufacturer and its UK network partners.
Samsung's Galaxy S is a rival of the HTC Desire, as both are high end Android smartphones with large screens and powerful processors, but it might be able to edge ahead of its competitor, if it succeeds in coordinating at launch of the Android 2.2 update that suits all UK users
