A new app for the iPhone will give users the ability to alter the settings of their central heating system, even when they are on the move.
PassivEnergy is an app that is not only designed for convenient temperature control but also allows users to turn off their pre-programmed settings when they are away for extended periods, which ensures that energy is not unnecessarily wasted.
PassivSystems' Colin Calder said: "No one lives their life to a rigid schedule and an incredible amount of energy is wasted simply because our lives don't run to routine, this app gives people the flexibility to manage their energy in a way that suits them."
"The ability to turn the heating up from the bus ready for when you get home, or to turn it off if you forget when you are on holiday, means the days of wasted household energy could soon be at an end."
UK households are responsible for a third of the UK's carbon footprint and 60 per cent of this element is generated by central heating systems, according to the Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. It is for this reason that such an eco-friendly and energy-saving app is deemed worthy of attention.
The main prerequisite for the app is that you have to install PassivSystem controls in your home first, which comes at a cost, but the app itself is free to download.
