Official Star Wars merchandise for the iPhone has been released, with a case that makes Apple's popular smartphone appear as chirruping robot R2-D2 taking centre stage for fans everywhere.
The R2-D2 case is only compatible with the outgoing iPhone 3G S and 3G models, so iPhone 4 owners will have to wait a little longer for their own version.
The level of attention on an admittedly quirky accessory is being fuelled by the fact that Motorola recently launched a special version of its new Droid 2 smartphone that also bears the insignia of the famous little robot.
The iPhone solution may be a little more lo-fi, but it definitely gets the job done.
The iPhone Star Wars R2-D2 case is on the market for around £20 and it comes with the official Star Wars seal of approval, so presumably Star Wars maestro George Lucas uses one on his very own iPhone, that is unless he has an affinity for Google's Android platform.
