O2 customers with HTC Desire smartphones can expect a wait of between six and eight weeks for the latest 2.2 version of the Android operating system, it has been claimed.
An unnamed source has apparently told fansite TalkAndroid that the earliest the update will arrive is towards the end of September.
The high end HTC Desire has been a popular choice across most of the major UK network providers, but the delayed launch of an Android update has angered many, since unlocked Desires have already been granted access to the update.
Integrated into Android 2.2 are several significant improvements, including support for Flash 10.1 and the ability to record video in high definition, which will no doubt be of benefit to all smartphone users.
News of developments comes as HTC is planning to launch the entirely new Desire HD on the 15th September.
