UK consumers should be able to obtain the Samsung Galaxy Tab hybrid device on a Vodafone contract when it launches later in the year, rumours suggest.
The Galaxy Tab is set to act as a direct rival to the Apple iPad, although this Android-based device will integrate features which make it behave far more as a large scale smartphone than a small scale PC, with integrated 3G connectivity and voice calling capabilities.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Tab at the IFA 2010 event and onlookers will be interested to see how the 1GHz processor and Super AMOLED display work in tandem with Android to produce a compelling, potentially Apple-beating experience.
Although Vodafone is rumoured to be planning to partner with Samsung on the launch of the Galaxy Tab, according to leaked product listings on Engadget there is no official word of a UK release, so fans will have to await an official statement from the network provider or from Samsung itself.
