Motorola has announced the launch of Milestone 2 in the UK, offering Android 2.2 and a range of other upgrades.
The handset is a follow-up to the original Milestone, which was released in these shores in December last year. Motorola has confirmed that it will bring back its custom Motoblur skin that was conspicuously absent from the recently released Motorola XT720.
In addition to software upgrades, the new handset will also be packing several hardware improvements, including a 1GHz processor and 8GB of onboard memory expandable, alongside the usual microSD slot for additional storage.
The smartphone also sports a five-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and is capable of HD video capture in 720p resolution, with DLNA support to stream videos over your home network. Thanks to Android 2.2, the device also comes preloaded with Adobe Flash Player 10.1.
But perhaps the most notable feature is the inclusion of tethering support, which allows the handset to substitute as a wireless hotspot, serving up to five devices at a time. Though it is likely to be dependant on a network subscription.
Milestone 2 will launch in the UK this Q4. Motorola is in talks with network providers but has yet to confirm details of its launch partners and price plans.
