Sony’s PlayStation division is hiring for server engineers with Android experience, adding fuel to the PlayStation phone rumour mill.
“Experience in mobile development, specifically Android is a plus” is one of the "highly desirable" skills mentioned in the job description posted on the PlayStation site, suggesting that whatever Sony is cooking up could be Android-flavoured.
It also mentions “knowledge/experience of online gaming”, which given the title of the role could be linked to Sony’s PlayStation Network service.
We are of course speculating, while wiping the drool off our faces at the prospect of a PlayStation phone that runs on Android. Sony has already removed the part about Android from its advert, but the folks over at Android Central were able to grab a screenshot before the purge.
Rumours of an Android 3.0-powered PlayStation smartphone first emerged on engadget, which was reportedly informed of its development by an industry source. Sony has denied the existence of such a device but that hasn’t stopped us from putting together a list of ten features we would like to see most from this hotly anticipated kit.
