Windows Phone 7 is to be officially unveiled on October 11th at a gala event in New York, it has been claimed.
The date for the unveiling of the platform has apparently been leaked by a series of anonymous sources with insider knowledge of the matter.
According to PocketLint, the first phones to run the operating system will go on sale a month later.
News of the tech giant’s plans comes after it this month confirmed the launch games line-up for the OS, which included a mobile edition of the Halo Series, Guitar Hero 5 and Bejewelled.
LG, Samsung and HTC are among the manufacturers that have confirmed plans to bring Windows Phone 7 smartphones to market this year.
Early responses to Windows Phone 7 have been largely positive, with industry watchers praising its clean, modern look, while gamers have welcomed the inclusion of cross platform gaming with the Xbox 360.
