Windows Phone 7 handsets may hit store shelves in Europe as early as October 21st, according to sources close to Microsoft.
Tech site Neowin claims to have information that Microsoft is planning several events across Europe on October 21st, including the UK, to officially launch the first wave of handsets running its new Windows Phone 7 operating system.
Microsoft is already hosting an open house event in New York on October 11th to reveal launch plans for the North American market. It recently confirmed the backing of all the major carriers in the UK as launch partners for the platform.
Windows Phone 7 is a reboot of the dying Windows Mobile platform and is widely considered a make or break launch in the Redmond software giant’s bid to regain market share lost to rivals Apple and Google.
