Angry Birds fans with Android phones won’t be getting the special Halloween edition of Rovio’s casual gaming sensation, it has been confirmed.
Responding to a query from a follower on its Twitter feed, the games devs categorically ruled out bringing the spooksome, tooth-gnashingly tricky take on the title in the foreseeable future, stating that it will not land on the platform “this year”.
However, it’s not all bad news. As a sop to the three million Android phone users who’ve downloaded the title, Rovio did promise that it'll be bringing some “other cool stuff” to the Android edition “pretty soon”.
We’re now becoming rather used to these cryptic trailers from Rovio, but if its seasonal Halloween update is anything to go by, we’re predicting something Christmas-themed for Google's platform by the end of the year.
The festive season is also expected to see a range of Angry Birds merch land in UK stores, as the game continues its remarkable ascent from cultdom to a bona-fide, mass market gaming phenomenon.
Earlier this week, the Times ran a double page feature naming David Cameron and Gazza as among the growing ranks of Angry Birds acolytes.
