GetJar's server has gone down, amid a stampede of gamers looking to get their mitts on the full Android version of Angry Birds.
The full-featured Android edition of the game appeared for sale on the download market earlier this morning. However, a matter of hours later the site crashed, as thousands of would-be pig bashers headed over to lay their hands on the free to download casual gaming phenom.
Twitter updates from fans suggest that prior to the server collapsing under the strain, there were long waiting times for downloads, with one enthusiast claiming he tried 37 times before being successful.
However, salvation is on the way at least. Rovio has since Tweeted that in 24 hours time Angry Birds will also land on the Android Market, so users will have somewhere else to buy it.
Ironically, games maker Rovio chose to debut the game in GetJar after Android phone users reported problems finding the title in Google’s official app store.
