Online retailer Expansys has priced Dell’s first Windows Phone 7 blower, the Venue Pro.
According to Expansys, the Venue Pro, which is can be ordered right now for £499.99 as a SIM free option, is due for release on Monday 8th November.
Key features of the Venue Pro include a 4.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a sleek, vertical slide-out keyboard similar to the Palm Pre that retains the squarer design aesthetics of the Dell Streak, the Android tablet/smartphone hybrid that hit UK earlier this year.
It also packs a 1GHz processor and a five-megapixel snapper with LED flash and autofocus, plus a wide range of connectivity options including Wi-Fi and Bluetooh 2.1.
However, unusually enough, the Expansys listing states Venue Pro only comes with 1GB of internal memory instead of the standard 8GB that Windows Phone 7 handsets are required to carry as per Microsoft’s guidelines. But, it does come with a microSDHC card, which we assume matches that storage and is included with the phone.
As a one-off cost, £499 does seem like a pretty hefty investment for a handset with very little to distinguish it from its peers other than its physical QWERTY keyboard. However, that cost will almost likely be subsidised when networks announce contract plans in the near future, so stay tuned.
