The Mighty Eagle from Angry Birds for Symbian3 is coming to the iPhone and the iPad, developer Rovio has confirmed.
The games maker revealed its plans to bring the smartbomb-style level clearer to Apple’s smartphone and tablet platform in a post on its Twitter feed. Asked by iPad-owning follower tab 527 when the feature would be coming to iOS devices, Rovio said it will definitely land in the ‘next update, early November’.
Prior to the announcement it had been thought that the Mighty Eagle, which enables players to clear and bypass levels they are stuck on, was to be exclusive to the Symbian3 version of the game for the Nokia N8 and C7.
The company has also hinted that users could soon be able to create their own levels. Responding to another user's request for a level creator, Rovio did not commit to the plan but did say it would "see what [it] could do". That suggests that while it won't be along with any of the updates due next month, it's very definitely part of its plans.
News of the company’s vision for the massive-selling casual gaming title comes as the first merchandise for the series, namely a range of plush toys, was unveiled on tech site Pocket-Lint.
The cuddly cuties – there’s one for each of the major avian characters - are expected to land in shops before Christmas, along with branded T-shirts. An animated movie is also in the works and is expected to arrive some time next year.
