The arrival of Android 2.1, AKA Eclair, on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 range of smartphones moved a stage closer today, with the news that the update is now in the “last stages of testing”.
Owners of the Xperia X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro, are currently using the pre-loaded 1.6 version of Google’s operating system, leaving them some way behind users of other Android phones who have long since advanced to newer iterations of the platform.
However, according to a Tweet from Sony Ericsson UK, the wait will soon be over, with the news that the update “will be ready in the next few days”.
Earlier this month, T-Mobile announced that it the update will be available for download from the end of November, presumably to allow it to carry out its own tests once Sony Ericsson is satisfied with its trials.
Among the new features Android 2.1 brings to the phones are interactive live wallpapers, a revamped app launcher and additional homescreens, so you’ll have more room for shortcuts, widgets and apps.
