Microsoft will unveil Windows Phone 7 on October 11th, an event listing on the tech giant’s site reveals.
The listing - unearthed by Engadget - contains two simultaneous press calls to be held at in New York and London. Although details are not disclosed, the events are almost certain to mark the moment Microsoft finally officially unwraps its smartphone operating system.
Launch handsets for the platform, which focuses on social networking and cross platform gaming, are as yet unconfirmed, but next week's showcases are widely expected to star landmark devices from Samsung and HTC.
HTC's effort, the HD 7, is a media optimised handset in the style of earlier HTC HD-branded mobiles and teams a 4.3-inch touchscreen display for enjoying high definition video on the move with an eight megapixel camera and a dual core 1GHz processor.
The Samsung Cetus, meanwhile, is home to a four-inch AMOLED touchscreen, a five-megapixel camera, secondary camera for video calls as well as Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and Wi-Fi support.
