The Yahoo Messenger app for the iPhone has received an update that enables users to make video calls from the device.
While Apple added FaceTime functionality to the iPhone 4, it is only available to iPhone users and over Wi-Fi only. With Yahoo Messenger users will be able to make video calls from their iPhones over both Wi-Fi and 3G to friends who may be on their PC or sporting Android devices.
Yahoo has also packed in multitasking capability, which means you can keep running the app in the background and continue chatting while surfing the net or browsing your music collection.
Unfortunately, the other key feature in the update, the ability to make international voice calls directly from the app is not available yet on these shores.
The update is available as a free download right now from the iTunes store.
