Rovio has given its clearest hint yet that the next update for Angry Birds will be a Christmas version and that it’ll be available to download this week.
We already know that an update for the game will drop this week, with Rovio last week revealing via its Twitter feed that it’ll be here any day now.
But, what wasn’t established is whether that’ll be a set of new levels for the non-themed standard edition of the game or the mooted Christmas special.
However, it now seems almost certain that the Christmas version will come next in the company’s release schedule, after the games maker responded to a query about a festive edition with the cryptic comment that it’s “not Christmas yet…” - seemingly suggesting that the edition isn't a figment of our fevered imagination, but that its arrival is, in fact, just a matter of time.
And assuming that it is what’s in store for fans of the title, it seems like when Angry Birds does get its Xmas twist it’ll be a simultaneous release for Nokia Symbian 3 phones, Android handsets and the iPhone and other iOS devices. That’s certainly what we took from Rovio’s statement to an earlier poser from a fan, in which it disclosed that the “next big thing will be for all platforms”.
Last week, Rovio confirmed that the next update will finally bring support for cheaper Android mobiles with smaller QWVG screens such as the HTC Wildfire.
