iPhone apps parodied by Sesame Street

Apple’s ‘There’s an App for That’ ads have been parodied by Sesame Street, in a skit featuring apps for everything from finding words that rhyme with gnat to fixing a flat on your bike.

Check out the skit below

The 56-second spot features none of your favourite characters from the Children’s Television Workshop, but does a pretty good job of having fun with the panoply of odd – and not to mention pointless - applications on offer at the App Store.

If we were being churlish we’d like to have seen them extend the theme into mondo bizarro territory to apps that made Oscar the Grouch smile for a bit or that could make Mr Snuffleupagus visible to people apart from Big Bird.

Still it’s good to see Sesame Street doing what it does best – putting a surreal spin on matters of the day and cultural phenoms (CF: the genius Twin Beaks David Lynch parody). Now if they can just find a way to keep the likes of Katy Perry off the show, we’ll really be talking.
