The price of the original Palm Pre has been slashed to just £199.99 by online retailer Expansys, as it prepares for the release of the Palm Pre 2, rumoured to arrive tomorrow.
HP confirmed recently that the Palm Pre 2 would go on sale in the UK as an unlocked model. So the price cut for the first-generation Pre is not surprising in the least. Expansys is already listing the Pre 2 on its site, though a shipping date or price is still missing.
Call us nuts, but £199 seems like a no-brainer for a multi-tasking smartphone capable of running iPhone quality games and seamlessly merging multiple user profiles, such as Google, Exchange, Facebook, et al with the Synergy feature.
Plus, it has a decent three-megapixel snapper with LED flash, 8GB of onboard storage and slide-out QWERTY keyboard. And unlike Android smarties, you need not worry about being left behind when it comes to the latest software, as the Pre will also be receiving the same webOS 2.0 goodness that the Pre 2 will ship with.
There are only 47 left in stock as of writing so if you’re looking for a bargain priced smartie, be quick.
