Taptu, the Cambridge-based software maker, has released an official news aggregator app for the Android and iOS platforms, allowing users to keep up-to-date with their favourite news sources.
My Taptu is a ‘social news aggregator’ that enables users to add RSS feeds for news sites that are not optimised for the mobile screens. If an RSS link is not available, Taptu will simply grab the full page from the source and compress it into a smaller, touchscreen-friendly layout.
Users can organise their news streams into the various pre-populated categories neatly laid out on the screen as thumbnails, or add their own with a simple tap on the ‘+’ icon, which takes them to the ‘StreamStore’, where they can search from up to 5000 streams on Taptu’s database.
Mitch Lazar, CEO of Taptu, said: "My Taptu is a clever yet simple social news aggregator that we believe our customers will return to many times a day.
"We set out to give our customers the one-stop-app for the latest news and views from all the best sources, including their own friends and family, and that’s exactly what we’ve achieved".
The app is free to download right now from the iTunes Store and the Android Market.
