O2 has begun pushing out Android 2.2 to the Dell Streak, bringing some ace new features to the tablet cum smartphone hybrid.
The update adds support for Adobe Flash 10.1 and Native Microsoft Exchange (that means full access to your Exchange email, including auto discovery, remote wipe, Exchange calendars, and Global Address List look up for contacts) and a new Dell Stage user interface – essentially a new set of widgets to give you more scope for customising your smartie.
You’ll also get a pre-loaded Swype keyboard app for speedier text entry, a back-up and restore app and “numerous system optimisations and updates”.
O2 stated: “We’ve been hard at work with our friends at Dell to bring Android 2.2 to our Streak customers and are happy to say it’s all ready to go.
“We’re gradually making the update available from today onwards – to check if it’s available for your Streak, head to Settings > About Phone > System Updates. If it’s not available yet don’t worry, it will be soon!”
Naturally, the size of the update means you’re well advised to use a Wi-Fi connection so you don’t eat into your monthly download allowance. Oh, and it’d be smart if you backed up your handset first, too.
